高齢者に対する認知トレーニングの認知機能改善効果は長期間持続する
- 2006-12-20 - 自立して生活している平均年齢73.6歳の高齢者を対象にしたAdvanced Cognitive Training for Independent and Vital Elderly (ACTIVE) 試験において、記憶(言語エピソード記憶)・推論(帰納推理)・処理スピード(視覚探索と同定)に関する10セッションの認知トレーニングで認知機能が改善し、その改善効果は2年間維持されることが確認されました。この試験の5年間の追跡調査結果が2006年12月20日のJAMA誌に発表されています。 (4 段落, 724 文字)

ACTIVE試験は、認知機能と身体機能に対する認知増強トレーニングの効果を5年後まで評価した現時点で唯一の長期無作為化コントロール試験です。
ACTIVE試験のデザインと結果を参考にして、今後は、認知トレーニングを含む様々な行動療法の効果が調べられていくでしょう。
たとえば認知トレーニング以外の行動療法として有望なものに運動があります。
最近の試験において身体活動は認知機能や身体機能によい効果を及ぼすことが示されつつあります。(1)(2)(3)

運動等のライフスタイルへの介入の効果を調べるための試験は非常に複雑ですが、ACTIVE試験を起点にして様々な行動療法の効果を検証して欲しいと願っています。
